Community Guidelines
The purpose of the Site is not only to provide you with information and inspiration for starting or running a small business in Canada, but to create a community of like-minded small business owners. This community is meant to be a welcoming and safe space for all crafters, makers, and content creators where you are invited to ask relevant questions, share your creations, seek advice, and support one another.
The Community Guidelines apply to the Site itself, the comment section on the Site, and our social media accounts and groups. Your participation in the community is voluntary and subject to the adherence to these rules and guidelines. You may be removed or blocked from these communities for any reason and without warning.
Be Kind & Respectful
We all benefit from this community and deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. Our community is a safe place to discuss things that are relevant to the group topic. You may not agree with everyone’s thoughts or opinions, but please either respond to them respectfully, or skip over them.
We do not tolerate bullying of any kind, including, but not limited to negative comments regarding race, gender, identity, sexual orientation, culture, or religion.
Group admin/moderators cannot be everywhere at once. If you see a post or comment that is disrespectful or harmful, please do not respond as that will only escalate a bad situation. Instead, report the post or comment to the group admins. We will be notified and look into it as soon as possible. If we find that the reported content violates the community guidelines, we will remove it.
Stay on Topic
This Site covers a range of topics that are related to starting and running a handmade business in Canada. Running a business involves many different aspects and we touch on many of those different subjects. Our community members also make a variety of different products. Because of that, the posts and discussions in our Community can vary. That is great, but please make sure that the topic is related to your handmade products, home-based or small business, etc.
We do not allow posts that are off-topic as they clutter the group, make the group less relevant and accessible to its members, and make it more difficult to provide help and feedback to each other. Posts about irrelevant world events, politics, etc. are not allowed as they can create unkind debates and violate community guidelines which could get our group shut down.
Respect Privacy
We do not allow private messaging to other members of our communities. This is to protect everyone from harm and keep all correspondence related to our communities public and available for moderators/admin to see.
No Promotions or Advertising
This community is intended to provide resources for you to start or grow your business. It is not the place to be advertising your business. You may share your business link only as it applies to seeking advice from other members of our community on your page/website. You may not promote, share, or advertise your business.*
*The exception to this is on specific posts where you are invited to share your business page, link, photos, etc. These posts will specifically state that they allow self promotion and will be shared by the group moderators/admin only.
We allow sharing of resources that are free and relevant to the community topic. We do not allow the promotion of other groups without pre-approval. Affiliate link sharing is not allowed within the community. One of the ways that we can provide you with free resources is by earning commission through our own affiliate links. We ask that you respect this and do not share your own/other’s links in our groups.
